Sounds like the ham was rancid and not raw. Even at that it would take hours for it to make you physically sick. Raw ham or pork's main hazard is trichinosos which is a parasite the resides in the muscle of the swine. Largely in this country it has been virtually eliminated;however, virtually is the key word. There is no way to garentee this without fully cooking pork.

If indeed it was raw ham, you are not likely to have consumed anything harmful. You threw up, which would have eliminated any thing harmful. You don't mention whether it was intentional or just grossed you out. Any way, the pork now days is cleaner and I would not worry about it. It most likely was cured. I can't imagine that it was raw? Most hams that are sold in the stores are not raw they are fully cooked. I think if it was 'raw' pork you would never have put it in a sandwich. If you threw up you've already gotten rid of the worst of it. I think you will be ok.

Dumb question, but are you sure it was raw? Many hams that you buy at the supermarket (those that are sealed in plastic) are pre-cooked. Check the packaging and see if it says "cooked ham" or "cured ham".

If it really was raw... then I'm not sure!
