dvd writer doesn'tplays dvd or write dvd?

i have multi layer LG DVD writer (HL-DTST DVD RAM ) but in that I can't play or write dvd R or W/R disks .

Re install driver and down load DVD player.

Does it burn cd's? What software are you using for recording. Maybe try to uninstall and reinstall. Update drivers.
