Why not write one about kids in a military family? Write about their worries ... their strengths .. what it is like for them to change schools every couple of years ... the great places they get to visit ...

You should be able to find plenty of ideas. Better yet, interview a few kids in military families!

How about a story about a girl named Laurie C, an aspiring teen writer who suffers from writer's block. She goes onto Yahoo Answers looking for ideas and instead gets mixed up with a registered sex offender, whose overtures are thwarted only in the 11th hour by the FBI, who used provisions in the PATRIOT Act to place warrantless surveillance on the molester.

Of course, this is just a skeleton - you'll have to put the meat and potatoes in it.

I don't know of a setting or conflict but possibly something on what teenagers go through.
Peer pressure
Depression
Decisions they have to make
Eating disorders mainly though especially with the anorexic stars in Hollywood now.

John Irving got his ideas from whatever book he just finished. Like Hotel New Hampshire came after Garp. So think about your last book and see what you put in there that would make a good next book.

How about a self-help related book about teens with problems. Go through how they solve those problems in the story & then give real life contact numbers and advice that real teens can use to help themselves in the back of the book.

ok here is my suggestion:
Setting: A fresh graduate being accepted as trainee for a high-paid position in an international antivirus company
Conflict: Granting that his training is vey computer-related, he couldnt afford to buy his own laptop, and sometimes could not even eat his meals because his living alowance is not even enaf for his sustenance. Now, here comes a serendipity, he met his long lost childhood friend, and make some intimate relationship with her.How can she impress his girl for her 22nd birthday this Jan 1, 2007 where infact he doesnt have something. And as much as he wanted to make things so that everything would be in his plans, he is worried that this cute girl might be upset and leave him - she doesnt have the idea that he is broke - at least for now. knowing that his girl is not really very particular with his money, he still believes that for her to believe that he is capable of the "responsibilities" of their relationship he should make ways to earn. atleast for him not to be out of budget. afterall he is still just a trainee...

- hahaha i thot this would help. that's my diary!!!

Make a list of all the topics or subjects you have already touched on. and the year you may have published them.

Do you need to update your readers on the topics or subjects with newer information / details? A compilation of the various topics.

There..your new book for 2007!!

Food for thought!

Tsk, tsk, tsk, if we did that and you took our idea we could cause a big mess for you being as we would be putting our ideas out for all the world to see. If you want to be successful as a writer you must come up with your own ideas. Good Luck!
