Maybe because you feel more comfortable knowing you'll probably never meet us in real life. This is a starting point for conversations and knowledge transfer. But not knowing who we really are is part of the mystery too. In fact you may be seeing someone from here in public and not even know it.

I tend to agree with you. The sexy avatars are a bit of a distraction. I think maybe if you met the faceless people you probably would be disappointed.

You get to decide how you want us to look...in your imagination at least. You probably base it on our personalities.
I think that you imagine me as some young computer nerd who doesn't have a life outside of Yahoo! Answers but also doesn't have enough time off of the computer to maintain his hygiene... Are you imagining the stench now too? Ha ha...but really, I don't know much about computers outside of putzing around on Yahoo! Answers.

Well in Avatar world, we learn to love and accept each other from the inside out, we don't discriminate. Looks are hardly an issue here.

Because we could be the best looking people you'll ever meet. You can see us in your imagination as perfect. The real faces you see, well, they are what they are and you can't make them other than.

If you dont know the face, you havent been mistreated by it or been used as a material possession by it. That's why it's easier to like a face you dont know than one you do know.
