people need to meet people and why not just be open and availble what can it hurt to say check me out or let me check you out as far as getting to talk to someone who is wanting to say like just talk?

Because you are more apt to get obnoxious mail than friendly mail. I keep a "junk" account, just for things like this, but some don't bother.

I think it's because of all the weirdos out there. I like meeting new people but some people have a caution about it. You can't trust anyone these days even with email.

I understand where you are coming from, but sometimes when your email address is out there like that you get spammed. I just hate getting those chain letters and those "if you love God send this to 8 people and God will bless you". He is going to do that anyway lol! That is just my reasoning why.

For me, I prefer not to gave out my e-mail to people. You never know what they gonna used it for. Your e-mail contain alot information about yourself. From where you live to whatever. Allowing other to access your e-mail account is (almost) same as gaving your credit card.
Beside you can never know who telling the truth and who telling a lie.

confidentiality issues...
i for one wants to help by answering questions, but i prefer to keep my privacy. This is not about meeting other people, its about helping people solve their trivial probs, and opening up your questions and concerns to other people so you'll get other's opinion on your own matters... though making friends could be a bonus sometimes...

Some people dont want to talk. They use forums like this and dont want to be bothered in thier personal life.

And, of course, if you post something someone doesn't like you get threat mail.
