I've already reported these incidents to IG and to the Superintendant of the facility with no avail. My brothers' visitations have been denied for over a year now and I am desperate for help, I even have several inmates writing to me and telling me of the abuse my brother has been subjected to. I have been told that he has lost severe weight and medical treatment has been denied to him. PLEASE, if there is anyone out there that can help me seek the help I ( MY BROTHER) so desperately need, I will be forever grateful...Every time I recieve a letter from an inmate I fear it to be horrible news, I'm terrified that my brother will die in prison and we will be left to believe it to be a suicide not MURDER....PLease help me help my Brother.

I worked at a DOCorrections for 12 years at the state's central office. People who do not believe abuse can occur are fooling theirselves.

You might want to check with the Department of Corrections ( a federal agency) and ask them how to ask for an investigation. They cannot conduct the investigation but will be able to tell you the correct state official to contact.

Also, while not often stated in public announcement, it is possible to get inmates transferred from a prision to another prison and even to serve their time in another state. One state will pay the other state to house the inmate, This is often done if the inmate has family in the other state or if there is a need to "protect" the inmate (usually because of gang association or known enemies in the local state's prison system). This is OFTEN DONE.

They will be surprise that you know about it - but if nothing else - you might be able to get him into a safer place in another state.

Also, contact the CALU or legal services and ask for ahearing. Also contact the local press (tv works best) - especially just before your state government meets in the new year.

I worked for state gov for 30 years. ALL of the agency Directors were greatly concerned that anything would go wrong while the State Assembly was in session. They would not have time to cover something up until it died down - they would be called in to answer NOW!

First I am sorry but I don't beleive it,

In the US todays prisons are very good and inmates treated very well up to the limits,

Normally visitation is denies if and when the inmate does bad things and thier security rating is increased or privilage is taken away.

Next they have rights to legal cousel and can sue if there really is things going on.

Next if these were reported to IG they would be investigated, and most likely found to be not real.

And if he is ill or if he is not getting all the snacks he used to get because he is spending alot of time in the "hole" he will lose weight.

I worked years in many prisons, and just a few cases of any abuse and that was only after an inmate caused alot of problems for the officers, Inmates who mind thier own busines and follow the rules have no problem in prison at all.

I would say they are giving you a sob story and you believe it,

Sorry but years of experince in several state prisons, in varous states and several Federal prisons,

I'm so sorry. Have you tried talking to an attorney? An attorney could petition the court for something and make the prison produce your brother in court.

Maybe call the local news stations. It seems like they're always looking for a sensational story. It wouldn't be the most respecful thing for your brother, but maybe shining light on the subject would make people behave.

Okay...there is a website called PRISONTALK.COM i believe that is it...there is alot of people on there with similar things or everything for that matter. I don't know what state your in but in everystate you have a state rep. call him. write to him, make copies of everything you write. I don't care if you have to go down to your state house and sit there until someone listens to you. Someone will. If you make enough noise someone will listen to you. I believe that no matter who it is in the prison system they have rights to. The people in there won't help. No one will say anything they watch eachothers back. But do what i said. If you write to a congressman anyone in your district...i don't care who it is write them every 2 weeks if you have to call every other day believe me someone will get back to you. The prison system isn't fool proof..and call the Internal affairs...attorney generals office...if what your saying is correct than someone has to listen....good luck...to your brother no matter what people do in life they should still be treated humane...

Talk/write to your elected officials. Find out the name and address of your state representative, your congressman, senator, and governor. Write them respectful letters and include any documentation that you have.
