Golly that is a hard question.
You should go to the Dr and find out for sure. Tell him the Dr what you have said here. Do not be embarressed. Stuff does happen. You can also get them from sleep in a bed that has not had the sheets changed and in some states the hotel and motel sheets do not have to be changed every day. Other things can make a person itch too like yeast infection. They treat that with a pill now. What ever it is your husband will have to be treated too.

Do not cry do not be embarrassed. Better to know for sure than not to. Happened to me too.

If i were u just shave ur pubic hair that sometimes works, or else just go to a doctor its not a big deal all they will do is give u some creams to put on, or pills in a couple of weeks it will all be over. Treatment
Normally, an infestation of pubic lice does not require professional treatment. Pubic lice can be treated with over-the-counter medicated shampoos used to treat head lice.

Check the product label or ask your child's doctor if the treatment is gentle enough to use in the pubic area. (It's important to note, though, that lice treatments containing the pesticide lindane are not recommended in the United States.)

Following the shampooing, comb the pubic hair with a fine-tooth comb to remove nits. Applying vinegar to the pubic hair may help loosen the eggs, but the hair should be dry before applying the shampoo.

Though one application is usually all that's needed, your child's doctor may recommend another treatment 1 to 2 weeks after the initial infestation to break the cycle. Medicated shampoos, creams, and lotions can get rid of the lice immediately, but it may take several weeks for the itching and irritation to go away.

If the infestation is substantial, you may want to visit your child's doctor for a prescription-strength treatment shampoo that you can use at home. If the area is raw or has open lesions from scratching, antibiotics may be prescribed for a secondary bacterial infection that may be present.

Because pubic lice can live in bedding and clothing, these items must be treated to stop the infestation. Wash all clothing and linens in hot water, then put them in the hot cycle of the dryer for at least 20 minutes. Items that can't be washed can be sealed in airtight plastic bags for 10 to 14 days before reuse.

It's also important to make everyone who has come in contact with the infested person or the infested linens aware of the infestation so they can also be treated.

I hate to tell you this but it sounds like you both have a case of the Crabs. Pubic crabs are easily transmitted between sexual partners. Any close contact with an infected person can result in you contracting the parasite. Crabs symptoms include itching and irritation in the genital area. Since crabs live off of your blood, you may find bluish spots where the crabs have been feeding. Dark spots may also be visible on your skin or underwear. These spots are the crab feces and indicate a definite infestation.

Genital crabs are easily treated through prescription or over-the-counter shampoos. In order to combat the infestation, follow the directions on the shampoo carefully. It is important to clean any clothes, bedding, and linens that have may have been infested. Any items that can’t be washed should be dry cleaned or stored in a plastic bag for a few days. This will kill any pubic crabs that may be present. To treat pubic crabs that have infested the eyebrows or eyelids, use a specially prescribed lotion that is safe for the eyes.

If the itching has stopped in the pubic area you will be clear. They aren't harmful anyway just very irritating and infectious. If you are worried then go to your doctors or the STD(sexually transmitted disease) clinic at your local hospital. Phone up first for an appointment. Or you could buy a bottle of Quellada from the chemist. But if you think your husband has been having sex with other women it is best to get fully checked out at the clinic. Take care.

There are different rare procedures of the spread of this infestation. some examples are sharing of undergarments, towels, and so on.

From what I understand they reproduce very quickly and will spread to any body part with hair (e.g. scalp), so if its been 4 months you probably would have noticed.

But I will say you need to address the issue of your concern, because if you don't that will be a far worse itch over time.

Go to the doctor and get your self checked out these sites should help too! You could also have bed bugs so check your mattress and the area around your bed. Make sure you go to the doc though you can never be to sure when it comes down to your own health.
