Article V, United States Constitution:

The Congress, whenever two-thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislature of two-thirds of the several States, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States, or by conventions in three-fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress..."

The text of the constitution can be changed through the amendment process. The meaning of the constitution is and can be changed by Supreme Court opinions (cases). For example, the many rights contained in the bill of rights have been broadened and narrowed throughout the years by Supreme Court case law, e.g., the 5th Amendment does not contain text requiring Miranda warnings (right to remain silent, etc.). It's been read into the constitution. Miranda changed the meaning of the 5th Amendment. Some say the Supremes interpret, other say they change the meaning...

Yup, the founders of our country, recognozed that their world may change and things within the Constitution will need to change with it. Thats the beauty of this country, is that the Constitution is a living, breathing document and changes as it needs to. Look at the 18 and 21st amendments.

This country is a living entity as well as the constitution is a living will.the will of the people written down and made into law.as a living document it can grow and change but only if the people wish it.the constitution will be amended many more times. over the years.in a 1000 years there may be a hundred amendments.

Yes. The reasoning the Founding Fathers allowed it to be amended is because they knew it would have to change with the times. Also, they allowed the Supreme Court to interpret it differently throughout the ages.
