I installed new strings and now can't seem to get in tune. New to this so advice is welcome.

12 strings take forever to tune initially because of string stretching and neck movement. The way I do it is in pairs like this:

Tune 6th, 5th, and 4th pair;
Retune 6th and 5th pair, tune 3rd pair;
Retune 5th and 4th pair, tune 2nd and 1st pair;
Retune all from 6th down to 1st.

Keep in mind that 12 strings should be tuned 1/2 to 1 step lower than a 6 string... 1st fret on a 12 string is the same as open on a 6 string (or alternately 3rd fret on a 12 string matches open on a 6).

Pairs should be tuned as such...

6th pair is octave (light string)/standard (heavy string)
5th pair is octave/standard
4th pair is octave/standard
3rd pair is octave/standard
2nd pair is in unison (standard/standard)
1st pair is unison

Have fun!

Both the B strings should be tune the same and both the high E strings should be tuned the same. The rest of the sets of strings should be tuned in octaves. Also tuning town your guitar a step or two and using a capo relieves a lot of strain on the neck due to having twice as many strings. Twelve-string guitars are generally hard to keep in tune anyway so don't get frustrated.

New strings are always kinda funny. Just keep tuning them & they'll fall into place.

Also, I tune mine a step down. (less neck tension) & I use a capo to play to normal pitch.

u should probably take it to a guitar shop because most tuners are for basic 6 string guitars

The most professional way to tune a guitar is to use a GUITAR TUNER !!! .....I'm serious.
