You can set restore points by using Microsoft's Live OneCare Cleanup scan. It will clean the registry and reset the restore points.

u put in the xp disk and follow the prompts ... or the restore disk that came with the pc, watever the case may be ...

A pc with no disc ??? Did you by any chance buy your pc from someone else ?. I am sorry but you can't do it without a system restore, a installation disc or a backup software.

without disk there is not much you can do about it
