Probably millions, since immigrants form a large portion of America. I really don't know if there are any "real" American only surnames, since the Native Americans went by desriptives, and surnames started with myriads of European settlers.

So many! America is a melting pot. Probably millions of surnames. There is no such thing as an "American" surname though. Just because Johnson is popular, it doesn't make it an American surname.
