For cost, best color definition CRT is far and away the better choice.
For brightness, light weight, and coolness - LCD is the best choice.
The fundamental advantage of the CRT is that it is extremely well established technology - and since its in decline - you can purchase a remarkable piece of equipment for a very small sum o' cash.
LCD (and Plasma) are both well into achieving dominance in the market, but remain pricey - and they still do not render color as accurately as the old CRT's do.
Given a bit o' time - they'll equal (at least in theory) the color quality of the CRT.

LCD monitors are flat screen which is certainly better but are more expensive than CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors.
Unless you really need a flat screen consider sticking with a CRT to keep the price down.

You gotta go LCD. LCD takes less space, uses less electricity, is sharper, gives you a larger screen size, and is way easier on the eyes.
CRT is outdated technology, so with a LCD.

I personally like CRTs for their viewing angle, but wait a few years and get an LED for the best choice!
