My mom came over today and asked me was I'm going to take my lights down next year.(lol) I'm too tired after work, so hopefully I'll do it the weekend.

You can leave them up as long as they still make you happy.

Most people leave it through the full holidays (Christmas and New Year). I usually leave it a week after the New Years because I'm just to tired to remove it any time sooner than that. I need a rest from the holidays.

Actually it would be a good idea to remove your lights on Jan. 9th. In Mexico it is a tradition to leave the lights on until then to celebrate " los tres reyes" which means the 3 kings. Remember Jesus's birth is celebrated on Dec. 25th and the 3 kings made the voyage to see " Jesus, the King". The voyage took some time to make by camel so the epiphany of the Lord is on Jan. 7th (which is usually celebrated on Jan. 6th) and the baptism of the Lord is on Jan. 8th. Of course we are not in Mexico but alot of religions celebrate the epiphany of the Lord.
If you look in the dictionary for epiphany it will say that is the visit of the magi ( 3 kings) to Jesus....Hope this helps....

i leave all lights and Christmas decorations up till January 2nd...
then I enlist the help of the whole family to take down and pack away and store everything till next year

i would say tiill the last day of december or u can leave them up till january 2 or the 3 because after that its too weird and embarassing lol =p soo i woul say teh minimum of january 2, 2007* woohhooo lol =] =]

you need to leave everything up til New Years Day. It is bad luck ot take them down before hand.

It's bad luck if you leave them up past the 8th of January so if I was you I'd take them down then!!!!!!!
