i cant picture that engine and where the hose comes out. the 96 350 block is the same as every other 350. you have freeze plugs that are in the block that are made to pop out if the water in the engine freezes, so the block will not crack. there are 2 in the rear where the bell housing bolts up, seems like 3 down each side, under the exhaust manifolds, and 2 or 4 on the front of the motor. unless i am confused, the heater hoses come from the water pump on that engine. the water pump has a weep hole that is an indicator, of when the bearing seal in the water pump has gone out. it will drip water from the water pump until you replace it. tell me where it is leaking, front, side?

i have a 95 with a 350 throttle body not shure if its the same as yours but the heater hose comes out of the water pump and is put in with a push in coupler that are known to leak check and make shure you didnt damage the O ring when you replaced it the only other thing is you say its leaking below there so that could be the water pump itself leaking there is a small hole about a 1/4 inch hole a weep hole on the bottom side of the housing were the pully shaft for the pump comes out if you have coolant leaking here your pump is shot and will need to be replaced hope this helps TRUSS

i own a repair shop, and if I'm not mistaken,,there's a freeze plug right down below there,,it may be leaking from it,,also, i have seen them get a small crack in the block in that area also,,but lets not think that right now,,see if you can get to it,,it may just be a freeze plug gone bad on it,,also make sure there is not a by pass tube that runs along there,a small metal one, they was bad to rot in to,,good luck hope this helps, happy new years.

The intake gaskets on those are plastic and rubber and are the first place to look if the heater hose nipple is not leaking.
