Most keyboards are smaller than a piano, so they have less keys. Also a keyboard's keys are closer together, which may make it difficult to switch between the two when playing certain songs. Many keyboards also have the ability to play more than one kind of note (synthesizer or changing to a trumpet sound) while piano's really only offer the piano sound. Piano's though do have the damper pedal, which is harder to duplicate on a keyboard.

Mostly depending on your usage, they are interchangeable. I was taught to play the piano, but used a keyboard (that I could travel with) to practice my finger exercises. I found the keyboard easier as a child since the keys were closer together, but I had more trouble playing certain songs as there just wasn't enough keys.

Yes, they "make the same notes," but uh .. practically all other instruments do, too. Playing a song on the piano would be the same as playing it on a keyboard, but there are differences. A keyboard does not give you the feeling of a real instrument. Another disadvantage of a keyboard is that it is usually narrower than the real piano. When you play a keyboard, you adjust the sound with a touch of a knob. With a piano, you adjust the sound depending on how you touch the key. Whether you play softly, or loudly, the sound and feeling of the song is completely different. If you`re in the middle of a song on a keyboard, and the score tells you need to switch from fortissimo (ff.) to pianissimo (pp.), I doubt you`d be reaching over to change the sound of the piano.

Most electronic keyboards have less keys than a piano. A piano has 88 keys. So - check out how many your keyboard has and you'll see how close you are. Also - a piano has a sustain pedal that makes a big difference in how you play it vs. a keybaord without the same pedal. Most keyboards do not come with a sustain pedal, but are equipped for one (and they are relatively cheap to buy). Good luck - and happy playing.

Most keyboards don't have quite as many keys as a piano, but some do - should be 88.

Well technicaly a keyboard is more spread out. A piano is confined into a single space making it easier to play it in form of music. A keyboard is built for you to be able to remember where the letters are

technically the word keyboard means the keys on a piano, but later on they developed the organ and much later the the portable organ or aka the keyboard, it is also known as the synthesizers, so yes they look similar in physical features but have different performance

Yeah almost. I agree piano has more keys and has 3 pedals, and unlike a keyboard, you don't need to use batteries or an adapter.
