We set up the Linksys wireless router by following the instructions on the set up disc. Now, we have no internet connection coming through our DSL Modem. We have all the plugs in the right places, but still cannot get a connection. Can someone please help? Thanks.

if you have everything hooked up correctly you will get a signal from your wireless router but you cant get a Internet connection...whats happened is your providers dslmodem is not communicating with your wireless router in the same language. What you need to do is contact your provider and tell them what your doing and the key phrase is " Make my wireless router the main router" and they will remotely change the signal coming to your dslmodem to recognize your router. I had this same problem, hope this helps...

Did you go into the router setup and put in your Username and password in the PPPOE section?

Just to make sure it is connected right. Your DSL modem is connected to your phone line and then connect your DSL modem to the WAN (Internet) port on your router.

Then connect a computer from its ethernet port to one of the routers ethernet ports to make a connection. I know you probably want to be wireless, but its best to use a wired connection the first time to do the setup.

Open your web browser and type 192.168.0.1, this will take you to the routers setup. Go to the Internet Provider section and set it for PPPOE and type in your username and password.

Turn off any WEP or WAP security until you get everything working. Also make sure DHCP is enabled.

Now disconnect the ethernet cable to the computer and enable your wireless connection. The computer should connect to your router and you should have internet access.

Is the modem signals still indicate there is internet? if not, make sure there is internet first hand coming to the modem.

now on the router, is the lights signal indicates internet? if so, did u install the wireless card on your computer with the driver properly? if you are on windows, check the control panel, network connections, and see if you get the wireless connection, if so, try to right click, repair. restart your computer and do same and if no internet, ..maybe try to get a help from someone to install it to you, or to look at the computers and router. or call your wireless equip provider.

I had the same problem and i rang up my wireless router provider many times and they were convinced it wasn't their fault. We then got a brand new router and it worked. You possibly have a faulty router and the only way to sort your problem would be to get a new one.

I don't think you need to install the wireless router, because when you try to access to internet, you need to set up user name, password.

Make sure your ethernet cable from your router is going from a port to your computer.
