I love tropical plants and trees, most importantly, i would love to have some japanese maples around the house, would they survive the outdoor heat? The temperature can reach 120f out here.

No. You could probably have tropical looking plants, like palms and things...but maples wouldn't work.

with temperatures going to 120F i think you would be wise to start a collection of cacti,you would need to consult a nurseryman on accacia & ficus varieties suitable to your climate,palms suitable for your climattic conditions should be another option.
