Well honestly unless you did alot of heavy farm work a slave would not be very cost efficient, even if that was the case machinery would do a better job and faster. Having a slave considering the cost of healthcare, feeding, and lodging would not be such a good deal these days. Unless you had one that you could hire out who did carpentry, electrician or maybe a plumber after a while he would probably buy his way out of that. So, no having a slave is not a good idea considering what would you do if he said they weren't going to work, you can't whip them without getting a lawsuit. Just be more efficient or sleep less and you can spend more time answering questions

Slavery was officially abolished because it is a disgusting thing that any decent person should be ashamed of.

God bless the English Parliamentarian William Wilberforce & the Royal Navy.

Note there is still plenty of slavery in the world today, even in our civilised societies.

Eastern Eurpean trafficked women, Mexican & Latino Housekeepers etc

But I recently read a report that Ukranian babies are being stolen from hospitals so that they can be killed & their stem cells harvested to provide medical treatments for rich people.

Which is perhaps even worse than slavery...

Steve,
What is wrong with you? Your question shows your ignorance... not to mention your laziness.
Did you ever think when you typed this slow minded question just how many people you would offend or even hurt?
It is really awful that people still have this type of mind set, maybe if slavery gets re-introduced, you'll be first on the market... imagine the whippin your gonna get!

Slavery was started by the Africans selling their children to richer Africans.
Most people in Britain in low paid jobs are worse off than slaves, the only difference is that they have freedom, freedom to worry that they are being evicted because they have to rob peter to pay Paul, freedom to choose to shoplift or starve, freedom to end their life because they feel that nobody cares,
the old who die of the cold because they used their heating money to pay bills and buy food.

If slavery was brought back perhaps there would be a waiting list
to become one.

slavery was abolished due to a political move by president Lincoln
as for slavery in of itself it still happens for example dancers that are promised lots of money to dance in another country are left stranded there, now was slavery abolished due to financial reasons by no means it was. should it be brought back well when i went to Savannah Georgia a couple years ago, i asked that same question? my answer was they were upset at the northerners for disrupting their way of living, that would be best answered by people in the deep south.

Who says we don't have slavery? Are you forced to work to pay the high interest rates on your credit cards? Is your adjustable rate mortgage coming due for a rate increase? Do you live from paycheck to paycheck? Are you unable to save and accumulate enough wealth so that you can do whatever you want? Are you forced to pay taxes to fund programs or wars that you do not support?

Exploitation may not be as obvious as it once was, but it certainly does exist today.

If it was meant to be a joke it wasn't that funny. I'm just glad it wasn't a really racist one like some of the ones i've seen.

Talk your parents into having more kids. Or have some yourself, kids are the best slaves. No one tells you not to make your kids or siblings cut fire wood or clean the bathroom.

Because it's inhumane. Do you want to be a slave?
