Ok, my sister was dating this guy, and they were renting-to-own a house. He made a deal with the land lord that he will pay him money when he gets his lawsuit and his Social Security money for being disable. He signed the contracts and made the deal. My sister never signed a thing. They split up and he moved out last month and my sister has been trying to move out. she finally did it today. :) However since her ex never payed the land lord any money, he is trying to take my sister to court for the money that he owes him.

Question:
Can he do that? What can my sister do?

if the landlord and him signed a
'LOP" letter of protection, when the ex gets the money, the landlord would receive his automatically. but if he makes ur sista pay..then she would have to take her ex to small claims court to get the money back..But if he signed a "LOP" he can't charge her again..he would be gettin paid twice..a 'LOP" is as good as cash..he has to wait...

since he signed the lease he is responsible for the rent...your sister is not responsible for any money due to the landlord...tell your sister to get a legel aid atty to help her settle this matter...it may not even go to court....
good luck !!
