Great for you, getting your own mouse... though rushing into breeding might not have been the best road. You should get experience with the animal itself before deciding you would like lots of them. You should have have atleast three cages, since you plan on breeding, and do plenty of research on the breeding itself. When you breed mice, the father needs to be taken out. The babies need to find homes quickly, which is the reason for the third cage, just in case a few mice don't find homes. Female mice are fine to keep together...male mice not so much. Also, don't let the breeding get out of control. I had a friend who did the exact same thing you did. She saw my mice and their babies and decided she wanted some, so she went to the pet store and bought a boy and a girl. This boy and girl turned into 36 girls and 6 boys in a matter of 1 month. The story goes on to become very greusome, so I won't finish, but keep control of your mice, and most definetly learn how to sex a baby and grown mouse. One male in the female cage can cause a huge problem, thus throwing everything off. Be VERY careful! Read up on breeding mice! I am always here if you need help. tejewelry@yahoo.com

Boy are you in for a surprise! First of all, good luck finding a home for the babies. The pet stores are not going to buy them back off of you, and no matter what, once they are there, they are pretty much snake food anyway. I have a lot of mice and breed them. You would be shocked at how quickly 2 mice can turn into 50 mice. Also, when all the males mature, sometimes you can have a very bad situation on your hands such as the bloody war that broke out at my house and ended up with mice eating each other while they were still alive. Trust me when I say get rid of one of them ASAP!

mice rule, ive had lots of them.but seperate the males from females,or soon u will have many more than u can find homes for.the females are easier to keep, the males urine has a very nasty, concentrated "mousy" odor, the females dont smell as much.
