If I add two drives to my system, and I am converting the SATA connector to IDE, then how do I connect the two ? There will be one IDE connector on the backside of the adaptor, the ribbon cable will have a grey, blue and black connector. Do I connect the two drives (both are not intended to be bootable) to the black and blue ? Is the adaptor supposed to handle multiple drives ?

My system is made by SONY and they chose to have SATA connectors because they are smaller cables and faster. But I had the opportunity to buy some large ATA/IDE Maxtor drives for a really low price. So now I'm learning that there's an adaptor that will allow me to connect them
(SEWELLDIRECT.COM Serial ATA to IDE Converter). But what I don't know is how more than one drive will connect. Do I need to buy an adaptor for each drive or can I put both on the IDE ribbon cable (perhaps black and blue connectors) then connect the grey to the adaptor.

There is already a SATA drive on the system as a system disk. I'm just planning to add data storage.

You will need a converter for each drive, as they support only one drive each. Plus you need to make sure your system has at least two available floppy drive power connectors as that is what will provide power for each drive. Example, SATA cable is plugged into the converter, the floppy drive power cable plugs into the converter which in turn is plugged into the hard drive. Diagram is below. You would have been better served just staying with SATA drives, as they are no different in price now then PATA drives.

If your moving over to IDE drives then you will need to have them on the fist plug on the mother board marked IDE1 now the drive that your going to put the top connector (blue) into should be set as master

look at the back edge of the hard drive near the power/IDE cable
you will see a small jumper with 6 or 8 pins look which pins you jump to make it the Master.and the second hard drive needs to be set at Slave,
The cd rom needs to be coupled to the secondary IDE2 slot and the CD Rom set as Master,

are you going to boot from a Sata hard drive?

each and every cellular has DNA and it particularly is consisted of two strands tightly woven around one yet yet another. the factor that prevents the two strands from breaking aside is termed a telomeric cap (it incredibly is random nucleotide sequences noted as nonsense codons. Codon is a three sequence of nucleotides that codes for amino acids eg. CUU is a amino acid noted as proline . A nonsense codon is one which doesnt code for any amino acid production) each and every time your cells divide a small sequence is lost there by using ability of reducing the balance of the cellular's DNA (in layman's words). this would finally lead do maximum of Ur cells' DNA placing out to be risky. and somewhat some instances whilst a mistake happens in DNA the cellular will carry out motor vehicle cytolysis (cellular suicide) to circumvent themes. So as quickly as you're previous maximum of ur cells telomeric caps could be low and that they are centers to die whilst they attempt to divide.. Whats particularly exciting approximately this concept is the end result it has on evolution (by using fact this occurs on the two meiotic besides as mitotic divisions. meaning that a species grows previous too in the previous it mutates.. yet thats a different tale)
