A router is something that allows you internet access AFTER you have some kind of internet service. There are 2 types of routers (as far as i know)

1. The first kind, the most common type of router, is a wired router. It enables you internet once you hook up your computer to it.

2.The other kind is the wireless router. This kind enables WiFi... like if you have a laptop. these also enable nintendo WiFi, if your a gamer like me..

Thats BASICALLY what a router is.. promising i'm not completely wrong... bare with me if i am.. i'm only sure about the 2 kinds of routers
