I'm glad you said that because I've been having similar thoughts and was wondering why. I mean, yeah, he had some people killed...just like our government has. So why are we so interested in him being hanged for it? There are some other world leaders who are a gazillion times worst than this guy. Why hasn't our government done anything about them? You know? But yeah, it is weird!!!

I agree they should have shot him soon after they pulled him out of the hole he was hiding in instead of subjecting us and him to a kangaroo court and holding it up as somehow being the criminal justice of an independent democracy. How many of us would care to be tried in a court where the judge was replaced halfway through the trial and your defense attorneys who were not assasinated quit the trial before it ended? I definitely wouldn't want such grand justice given to me. So many holes in that trial, the procedures and the bias because its wrapped up in the middle of a civil war that it would have been much better to let the United Nations and the international criminal court try him elsewhere like the murderers in Rawanda, Serbia and other contemporary conflicts. He is a bad guy and does deserve justice and probably execution, but there is a such thing as due process even for a tyrant.

Why might somebody experience undesirable for somebody dying that killed over 500 human beings!!! Who knows what number lives he had destroyed??? he's a criminal and who cares approximately if he lives or no longer! If we did no longer execute Saddam he probable might have killed much extra human beings in step with threat some extra bombing interior america. There are some undesirable human beings interior the international, yet Saddam isn't one in each and every of them, he's worse.

I also have mixed feeling.

1st, he killed a lot of his own citizens and such so he needs to be ...controlled (?).

2nd - the country is such a mess now, that may be the last straw before a total civil war of ethnic cleansing.

3rd - they could give him life in prison - but based on how several of the old government's officials have managed to escape from prison. That too is not really an option.

4th - based on all the in0fighting and the fact no WMD was found, I almost wish we could say SORRY and put him back in power - anything to stop the ethnic cleansing.

Yeah, its weird!

Kinda feel sorry for the old fool. But then I remember all of the innocent people he had tortured and murdered. Think if that was YOUR family...YOUR friends...YOUR children.

When you put it all in perspective, you just have to remember what a ruthless dictator he was and it makes it easier to accept his execution.

Try to find some pics on the internet of the death and destruction he created - I bet it will help you come to grips with it all.

I am completely elated...think about how he made so many people suffer and die. What if your family member would have been one of those people? I wonder how the people he killed felt when they were being tortured to death...they probably felt it was a bad way to go also. I personally wish they would televise it for a national celebration.

No, honey... he should have hung long ago. Just imagine if he did what he did to your family or friends.... he deserves what he's getting, they just didn't have to spend all that time and taxpayers' money to come to that conclusion. I would recommend they cut him into pieces before they hang him so he could feel some of the hurt he put on others.

LOL being killed in any method is a bad way to go.. Well I admit some ways are worse then others. My husband read in the German news that they will use a short rope because you don't die as fast with a shorter rope eeeeekkkkk...

No it is not weird. What is weird is the long drawn out, expensive process we use where the deterrent factor is so watered down that we get little benefit from the execution of our condemned. In fact, we more often than not make celebrities out of them. How weird is THAT?

If you knew what he's done, you'd hate him too. I've went to war and fought against him. He's killed tens of thousands and tortured millions. A hanging is the easy way out.
