Liat,

Since you are relocating for your job they will take care of everything (your company).

Tell your landlord right away and also give your landlord's number to the HR representative who is handling your relocation.

First, you need to notify your landlord immediately, the two of you maybe able to work something out. Second, go see HR about the company covers under their relocation policy, if they have one.

That one month deposit is not for rent. It is a security deposit to cover possible physical damage to the property, not to pay your last months rent. However, you can direct the landlord to use any remaining deposit, if any, to pay any back rent.

Check your lease. It should give you an out if you are moving because of your job or the service. If it doesn't, you're learning something important. Read your lease before you sign it. All leases can be amended at signing. Be sure you cover all your bases and ask the important questions before you sign. If you break your lease, you may lose your deposit, you could be charged reletting fees, your lease could be accelerated. Talk to the apartment manager and beg if necessary. Sometimes they can be very nice if you give them enough notice to get it rented again and you leave it very, very clean. LOL

Check your lease to see if it has a section titled "sublet". What that means is you can rent your apartment to someone as a sub-letter but you are responsible for finding the person and having them sign the appropriate papers. Some landlords require a sublet fee. Don't just up and leave your apartment. You could get sued and it could effect your credit rating.

if your job is making your transfer, find out what they can do to assist you in paying for breaking the lease.
