i mean i have read about Saddam and Hitler and in both of this cases the environment which they lived in when they were kids was very bad. Their parents didn't behave nicely to them. So do you think that is the reason they behaved the way they did???
Please give your opinions. I know i might be wrong.

Environment has a lot to do with the way in which you will behave in your latter years. I grew up in the South Bronx, a very rough area in New York City. I saw a large percentage of my old friends going into the grave and many more going down the wrong paths. I was very lucky to have the great parents that I had because they raised me with much love and kindness, even though we were poor and grew up in such an acrid environment. I was very fortunate to pursue and get a good education and a good job so that my 3 children grew up in a much better environment. All 3 are doing very well, and so are most of their friends. With few exceptions, the children that grow up in rural areas get a much better education and better jobs than those that grow up in the ghetto. This is what I have seen in my 59 years of life; I came from the very bottom and I ended up in the upper middle class, but sad to say, I left a very large part of my world behind. A bad environment can claim many fine souls that might have otherwise excelled to great heights under better conditions. Today aim far away from the South Bronx, but I often think about those souls that shared so many moments with me. I wrote a poem for all my friends; THE SOUTH BRONX, U.S.A.........THOSE THINGS I SEE BUT DO NOT SPEAK, ARE THE GAME OF LIFE ON THESE MEAN STREETS. WHERE LIFE IS TOUGH AND THE FUTURE IS BLEAK-AND GOOD AND EVIL HERE DO MEET........THE AMENITIES OF LIFE ARE SHORT AT HAND, AND YOU DON'T SEE MUCH OF UNCLE SAM; YET SO MANY FROM HERE HAVE DIED FOR THIS LAND, ON DESERT FLOORS AND IN VIET-NAM.....AND THE PINIONS OF POWER HAVE RAPED THIS PLACE; THEY HAVE TAKEN MUCH SPOIL, LEAVING TEARS ON MY FACE, AND THERE ARE SO MANY STORIES THAT NEED TO BE TOLD, ABOUT THIS PART IN AMERICA LEFT OUT IN THE COLD......THEIR STORIES ARE SIMPLE, HONEST, AND SO TRUE; THE THINGS THAT WERE PROMISED ARE LONG OVERDUE. SO I GAZE AND I WONDER AND CLOSE MY EYES, AND PRAY FOR A PEOPLE WHOSE DREAMS PASSED THEM BY...............KECK

While environment CAN affect behavior, it's not the greatest decisive factor. As humans, we have the capacity to learn and make choices. Combine those talents with our environment and the actions of others and you get your end results.

Some people go along with the flow and live normal lives. Others set the tone and create environments that can be both positive (founding fathers of the US, Martin Luther King) or negative (Hitler & Saddam) to everyone around them.

Lots of people throughout history have had bad beginnings. Most of them made the right choices and became good people in spite of it. Some didn't.

Well, look at it both ways.
What about the kids that are in a family where the father beats on the mother?
Does he grow up and want to do the same
or does he decide not too.
Since he saw how his mother felt.

People have a choice on how to act.
I believe its in you.

For instance I have a friend whos father smoked and drank all the time. He saw how it affected everyone in his family so he made the decision to never do that hes 28 yrs old and has never drank or smoked anything.

So, there you go thats my opinion

Well, I was beat and punished and basically treated like a slave by my own mother...do you see me out mass murdering a bunch of innocent people just because I was treated like dirt growing up? The answer is NO!! There is no justification for what Saddam and Hitler did...

Yes, childrens' values can be molded and shaped during their youth by environmental factors, such as parental influences, primary caretakers, teachers, friends, etc.

There is a famous quote out there (unfortunately I can't remember who said it) which metaphorically compares parental duties in shaping one's child similar to how one would influence the growth of a sappling ... and then watching it grow into a beautiful and stable tree. In other words, once the child matures, primary values have already been established.

Your environment can affect the way you behave...but mature people overcome it, and take responsibility for their own actions instead of laying blame elsewhere.

yeh i think so... environment defiently affects a persons orientation about things. because i think their foundation as a child has no basis so they in return will be a "bad" person.
