There must have been millions of transactions conducted through eBay. So, of course, a scam here or there has probably occurred. Still it is probably safer than anything else. It is mostly because of the feedback of which others have written. Sellers send there objects immediately and buyers, there money immediately. You have also read about paypal in other answers. It is very wise to go through the third party. It also makes it very quick and convenient to pay. It is done with a click. A seller typically knows the day the auction has ended that he or she has been paid. The price of an object is established by supply and demand. You may have bid $10 more than the second highest bid. But the price will stand at 50 cents more than that second highest until someone else becomes second highest, then it will be 50 cents higher than that. Know one knows what the highest bid actually is except the person that bid it. It is a system that ensures buyers and sellers a fair price.

EBay is a great place to buy. But you must know what you are doing. Of course people have gotten scammed off i take it you mean ripped off. cheated. You get signed in, go to the answer boards, start reading actual problems and the answers given by experienced ebers. A week of that and you will do ok probably

eBay is pretty reliable, however you need to keep in mind that it's a place for you and a stranger to exchange goods and money so there will always be some losers who try to ruin it. Just make sure you read the descriptions thoroughly, ask questions if you're unsure, and look at the user's feedback to gauge just how reliable they are.

For eBay, the site itself is very reliable, although many times the sellers are not. I never had got scammed because I always checked the sellers previous buyers feedback. So just be careful when selecting your seller.

I've got friends who have paid $3,500 for a car and didn't get it, and some who paid $20 for a game and never got it. However, I've bought tons of stuff from eBay, and have always received my products (although I have to return my stuff sometimes, because it's not as advertised). Just make sure the feedback is good, and everything on the page checks out.

Every seller is different. You just have to review feedback, consider how long they have been selling, and where they are. Common sense will protect you most of the time. I've been buying on eBay since 1997. Out of about 1,200 transactions, I have probably been burned 3-4 times.

eBay is a reliable site in my experience. However, there are tons of scammers out there who will send you email pretending to be associated with eBay. Their email will display eBay graphics and use language that makes you think it is from eBay.

Never respond to emails from someone who says they are from eBay. Always log on to your ebay account independently (not from a link in an email) and read the email directly from your page. The same advice applies to PayPal.

That all depend who are you buying from. I've got many great things from ebay. However, I've been scamed twice also. Best thing to do is "Not to buy from any country ouside USA" and check feedback on the person you are buying from. If you check on this two things it may save you a headache...

To tell the truth, eBay is pretty reliable. It's more of how your item is delivered that matters. For example, UPS tends to be less reliable than other services. (meaning it might take weeks before you get your package).

yes it is becasue we have bought stuff there before and we have recieved all of it, it is not a scam.......and the best stuff to buy is the "buy now", also on the page it will say if it is a reliable thing to buy, so buy somethign that is small and cheap at first, and if you get it, buy whatever you want.......

good luck*:)
