I have looked in several different places and all seem to say somthing different. Does anyone know if for sure, is the name Cecilia Italian or Spanish?

It is actually Latin in origin, so Italians and Spanish are equal in the usage of it. Since it is older than Italy, but Latin or Roman, technically Italy I guess.

The Italian and Spanish cultures have many similarities as far as language goes so I would think it could be either.

I think it's actually Latin, which makes sense since both Spanish and Italian are languages based on Latin.

Both. My Italian grandma was Cecilia. I've seen it listed as both.

the name is originally latin so it really goes to the Italians.

i don't know why sometimes its mistaken for being Spanish it doesn't sound spanish. it sounds Italian.
