Stick your tongue out, put it back in, now out, in out, in out, now watch, your baby will start to do it too! (I'm sorry, but this just amazes me! LOL How smart they are! They understand so much, they just lack language!) My 6 week old actually sticks his tongue out at me now! It's his way of telling me he wants to play!

This little piggy and how big is baby help your little one learn that his hands anf feet are his.

Pictures of other babies are entertaining to them.

I second the Christmas tree-my LO loved it too!

My LO also loves to go for a walk outside (bundled accordingly of course!)

And his big brother is very entertaining! LOL

He also loves music (I'm so sick of Drivin n cryin "fly me courageous" --over and over LOL) Crank up your favorite tunes and dance around with baby (good for mom too!!)

Congrats on your LO!

Anything with lights! The Christmas tree was a hit with my newborn, she is 2 months old now. There is this butterfly rattle toy I bought at Walmart that giggled and flashed lights....my baby would focus on that. Also singing nursery songs and getting really close to their face while singing.

We read, sang, played classical music and talked alot to our newborn. We also bought her a play gym and she loved looking at all the toys hanging over her. We also did alot of, and still do actually, things like patty cake, itsy bitsy spider, and little piggies.

One little game I liked to do with her was opening her arms wide and saying to her "big baby!". After a few times of that she would smile and I'd continue on with "are you my big baby" and she'd smile even more. I know it sounds odd but it worked for her.

Our little one is 6 months old now and she still loves to hear me sing the same old songs to her. She is amused by conversation and is very well adjusted. We feel the stimulation went a long way with her.

At four weeks it may be a little too soon to start trying to keep baby awake. At this age babies sleep about 18-20 hours a day and this is normal. As she gets older, she'll sort of self schedule and you can try to keep her awake for longer periods of time. Good luck and congrats!!!

Mobile's are great, especially if they have lights music and move in circles. If you don't want to spend money on that, put him under a ceiling fan in your home and put it on a slow speed. I bought expensive mobiles for mine and her favorite was the ceiling fan in the living room. That should be your last resort though. At that age, the best thing is to hold him and talk to him. It will show him who you are and create a close bond for you.

Try a flashlight on the ceiling or wall, he will like to follow the light. At this age, you can entertain with almost anything. Just look at him and talk to him, this is the time they are getting to know you and bonding with you.

talk to him hold him close sing to him listen to music w him. I started what my son considers a game now by kissing him on the cheeks and mouth and as i move closer and closer to him i make noises and then sometimes i kiss him and sometimes i dont. Its something special between me and him and he still loves it today. My son is 13 weeks old. Also you can talk to him and do exercises with his legs and arms. My son actually laughs now when i do the exercises with him. we made a game of it. my son loves the teletubbies.

try singing, making faces, peak-a-boo, let him watch a ceiling fan...blow bubbles for him, gentle massage. gentle boucing. One thing that was helpful for me was enrolling in a mommy and me yoga class.

I think my son loved his mobile at that age. He would just stare at it for hours.
