It's probably not the best time. March is really when selling and buying starts to heat up. You don't want to buy when there are not that many homes on the market. The best time to buy, in my experience (I have purchased two homes in my time), is when there are a lot for sale. Then you get a better choice, and possibly a better deal, because sellers know you can always go elsewhere. They may be willing to negotiate further because they don't want to lose a deal.

Wait a few months. Prices are going down. Use the time to research the area and save more money.
