It does bother me, but there isn't anything we can do. We can't force people to use the spell check. A lot of these people are twelve and younger and can't type very well.

It doesn't bother me when I can see they are litterate, and just being a Kid, to me the " Dunno and kiddin" its an alternate language and requires a certain finess, i type 75 words per minute and sometimes the computer just can't keep up, and I am to lazy to go and change it,
But what truley is a BIG deal to me is the severe -
And I find that alot on YA- truely illiterate individuals whom are not even aware that they should seek help , and go back to school,
I really wonder how they function is society, where are the employed?
I mean so many questions.
Lets just pray for them and for US.
Meg
PS I really can't stand it when people are so rude about the fact that people obviously have "issues" and then procede to attack these helpless individuals.
That burns me! More that the defect its self.

Finally, someone is thinking what I am thinking.
I am appalled. Public school is working wonders here in America. I shutter at some of the writing in this forum. However, it isn't just here. As a National Manager, I interview people across the nation regularly and you should see their writing samples and they are applying for a job!
What standards are we setting in the educational system? We will not be able to remain competitive in the global marketplace if we don't step it up.

I agree with Tampico...at least use spell check. It doesn't scare me as much as it bothers me is because it doesn't seem important to some but says so much about you.
That is why I always consider the source.

Not as much as the "locals" they seem to interview on the evening news in every city I've lived in... I like to think of it all as poor randomization for a representation of the general population.

Sometimes I can't even understand what the question is! I agree, but just move on to the ones that are succinct!

It doesn't "scare" me per se. Most of the time I just find it irritating. I can't decide if people are really that stupid or if they just are lazy.
I avoid the ones that are just long run-on sentences without any punctuation.

Absolutely!!! Sad thing is that many know the proper way to speak, but the current culture of our youths find it cool to speak like their music and t.v idols.

I fear becoming stupid, losing my mind and never finding it again, stuff like that.
Apparently, many people do just that once they start typing. But as I've never had that problem, I'm not personally scared.
