I am wondering why you didn't include men in this question. I ran out one one big a. hole. After 17 miserable years. Yeah times were hard. He was a drunk bi polar s o b. among other things. Divorce was better than murder. And murdering him was becoming an option. Women have been putting up with stuff like this for centuries. The laws have change and attitudes have changed concerning women's rights. If you are the parent of a female child you would thank the good lord and femminist your little girl will never have to stay in a bad marriage if she doesn't want to. Get real here.

It is because society has been pressuring women to be independent since the feminist movement, and many men prefer the "stay at home" wife. Women want to be independent and prefer to be in control, whereas many men like to be controlling. When the two come into conflict, women also know that the courts will typically favor them HEAVILY in a divorce suit, and therefore take the divorce as a quick means to "get back" at their (former) husband.

Also, liberals have a long history of trying to tear down the nation's moral compass, and this is a victory for them.

Marriage is having its slow death, because values are becoming a thing of the past, everything is commercial today, if something does not happen hollywood style then everything is wrong, people learn about love, patience, understanding etc, only through TV, hence they expect real life to be like TV. If this does not happen they they like to switch off the TV, and thats what is happening, women measure love by the cost of the gift a man has to offer. Instant gratification is what most of them look for.
I am really sorry for what ever experience you faced or heard. Life has become like instant noodles! Even if an appliance breaks down the first thing suggested is replace it, when something tears no one stitches it, it is thrown away, replacing is what is taught from childhood, in relationship it is move on, .......perhaps thats what is happening in todays world.

It's not just women, it's men too. People have this fantasy that you should have this perfect marriage and shouldn't have to work at it. People are selfish and they don't want to compromise in the least. Society has changed the wawy people live and the way they look at others. Instead of seeing the other as a part of themselves, they see them as just a partner, and a lot of the time, a rival.

It's called "disposable society". No one wants to be accountable for anything. Men do it as often as women. It's merely a sign of the times. Commitments mean nothing. There is no morality.

Killed someone? Tell them your parents were mean to you when you were a kid.

Don't want to have a baby yet? Abort it and go have more unprotected sex.

Parents won't let you do drugs in the house? Sue them and divorce them.

It's a progressive decline in society in which everyone has an excuse for anything they want to do in which nothing is their fault. Thank the lawyers and psychologists for this.

It seems that people are too lazy to work on their marriages. Marriage is hard work and some people just can't take it, which is sad. My hubby kicked me out, he doesn't want to work it out, but I do. I know the feeling!! No cheating or drug abuse or alcohol, but he had enough. I wish people didn't run off and get divorces, but thank the feminist movement and people like Nancy Pelosi. I know your frustrations!

It isn't just women. Men are also quick to leave when the times get challenging. If you can get through the tough times, the rewards are so sweet. If it weren't for bad days, we couldn't possibly fully enjoy the good days. Both parties need to decide what they can deal with, and what is totally unacceptable; and forge on.

I think it is both men and women. People don't know how to deal with their problems/differences and usually run to the first promise of happiness that they run accross, only to fail again. If one would learn to sort out one's problems and communicate better with one's spouse it would probably make the statistics better. It's a selfish era we live in.

Because they've finally gotten smart and realize that they made a mistake in the first place. Why stay in a no win situation? Marriage is for punks and losers.

It's not just women. Its not just relationships. Its the effect of living in a disposable society. No one seems to want to make do / or fix things anymore. They just want to throw away / ignore the prob and start over with something new.
