Chris, contrary to popular belief, virii can be cross platform. I wrote one just yesterday in PHP. Since it's in PHP, it can affect Windows, Mac, Linux, etc. environments, provided they have the scripting engine installed.

Viruses can affect a mobile phone in the same ways a computer can be affected by them. They can have harmful effects, or just take up memory. They can also do things like DoS your phone, send messages, get contact info, pretty much anything you can do with your phone, they can do. By downloading attachments from an email, you put yourself at risk.

So yes, your phone can get a virus, and the effects can be the same as a normal computer virus. You phone is just a small computer. :)

A computer virus isn't the same as a phone virus...A computer virus will only work on a Windows PC (or Mac depending on which way it was coded).

So basically, no you can not get a virus on your phone via email..

It's possible, but very rare. Normal Windows-based email viruses won't affect it, but a virus designed for your particular phone could exist. There aren't many that do, and most of those have been to prove it could be done.
