My wife thinks that he had money which let him escape scrutiny, and I told her he had no role in the entire affair; citing that this was "Tricky Dick's" doing.

Can anyone shed light on this issue?

I don't think he did, but who knows..And just think, if it wasn't for that Forrest Gump guy, Nixon would of got away with it!

Watergate was an Executive affair, Ford was in the legislative branch and in fact the House Miniority Leader. Unless after he became VP he decided to take a role, he's clean.

Nope - he wasn't even part of the Administration at the time. He was selected as VP specifically because he was an Administration outsider who wasn't tainted by the scandal. The closest he gets to the conspiracy is his pardoning of Nixon.

Ford had nothing to do with it. His name never appeared in any investigation and there were lots of investigations by both the House and the Senate as well as numerous news organizations. Ford never struck me as a devious guy, more down to earth and honest.

No not at all that is why he was talked into the vice president's office in the first place. In fact, nixon really didn't speak to him much prior to the scandle
