Please help! 2 days ago we spotted a mouse in a room in my house. My dog is going crazy! He's really tiny and black so he blends in with the shadows. I just spotted him again! He keeps on crawling from beneath the wadrobe to under the vent along the wall. How do I get rid of him without hurting him? P.S. I want to keep him as a pet.

okey dokey. first things first. if hes wild then hes going to be TERRIFIED AND WILL NEVER BE HAPPY AS A PET!. but i really do think its awesome that youre not freking and trying to kill him.theyt just dont deserve that.you need to go to the humane soceity and het a humane trap from them. set it up in a dark corner with some food(yogurt, bread, cereal)inside,it will eventually go investigate and you need to then cover the cage witha towel to keep it dark.drive with him to a location similar to the area where you live and set him loose. if you want to be extra nice give him a pile of food to secure his health for a while.

You can get a humane trap at the hardware store.
But, there are more than the one you saw. If possible, you should find where they can get in, and close the holes.
I have actually kept wild mice as "pets." They are very pretty but they cannot be tamed. They can get used to seeing you, maybe even take food from you through the cage bars, but they will never let you handle them.
Also, they are escape artists. Be very careful any time you open the mouse cage.
I recommend a glass tank with a screen top, and be sure to get the mouse a running wheel. This helps immensely with any anxiety the mouse may have. Provide a hiding place too. You can make or buy a hiding place with an open place which you set against the glass; then you can see the mouse when it is hiding.
They sell mouse food at the pet store.
As far as disease, all the wild rodents I have caught have been healthy. If there is an outbreak of disease (usually typhus, plague, or hantavirus, not rabies) in an area, a warning is generally announced on the radio . This is pretty rare. People's cats eat mice all the time without getting sick, right?
If you still want to do it, have fun!

okay, when we got our "pet mouse" we took a hat and put peanutbutter in it when he crawled in we shut the hat. you have to stay away. PUT PEANUT BUTTER ON A PLATE AND LEAVE IT OUT, PUT ON ALOT OF PEANUT BUTTER. THEN WHEN HE IS EATING (SPY ON THE PLATE ALL THE TIME) SLOWLY PUT A BUCKET OVER HIM (so he doesnt get frightened and run away)

Here's a humane mouse trap:

But, please be careful about keeping a wild mouse as a pet--they can carry so many diseases such as LCMV and Hantavirus. Here are some links from the Centers for Disease Control about this:
