I'd rather have a good computer than some illegal music
but if it doesnt slow your computer down, than, Hooray!

It has been my experience that Limewire tends to be a real resource hog. If you are downloading something (or someone is downloading something from you), Limewire ties up available resources to an unacceptable degree. I ended up getting rid of it.

Also, there is no way to know if you are downloading a virus until you are done downloading, This is true of all file sharing programs, but my kids screwed up my hard drive to the point where I had to start over to get rid of Limewire related viruses.

Limewire can "Mess up" your computer....Not everyone has that problem though. See I have 2 computers...both has Limwire and One works absolutely fine with the program and the other was working badly...so I deleted the program off the computer and it works fine. It all depends on Viruses and Other conflicting Programs you may have on your computer that would stop the program(lime wire) to work...I would say....Go for it and if it slows your computer down try this:
Upgrade to a better version of Limewire
check to see if there are any other programs on your computer they may conflict with the Limewire program
Virus scan your computer to make sure it isnt a different problem....and if none of that works....delete the program and I would try different programs until you have found the one you like the best......there is of course Limewire....Kazaa....Bearshare....Imesh....Morpheus....and probably many others.....Although some of those programs may do the same....Good luck.

Good question! I have limewire also and it did slow down my computer just a milisecond or 2... but not that much! I LOOOOOOOVE listening to music that you can't find on a CD that i downloaded from limewire when I'm typing up a history report! I think that limewire is really good also because you can make CD's and put whatever music you want on it! Limewire may slow your computer down a little bit, but it's REALLY cool! Heyy, if Limewore slows down yyour computer a lot... then I wouldn't be tryping to you now! Ha ha! Have fun listening to your music!

YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Use Ares Ultra instead. It's faster than limewire, it has the same functions, and it's free. It also does not slow down your computer like limewire does. My Windows XP has been in the shop at least six times as a result of Limewire. With Ares, i haven't had any problems, and it's been a year. My internet is still high speed and everything. Go for it!

Yes it does!!! ALOT!!! Dont it install another program when installing?? Like.....weatherbug,Internet accelerator, ect. Well those their are adware and spyware. And thats what slows down your comp.If you not sure, then go to you add/remove programs list. Look at all the programs, If you see something like what i just mentioned or anything else that looks like you did NOT install. Then most likely you have a virus, spyware, or adware. A couple of things to lookout for: 888Toolbar,WebAccelerator, Internet Accelerator,Command, or any icons that come up without install. Hope this helps.

Oh yea, even if you uninstall it, you will still have the viruses. You'll have to uninstall everything you didnt install.

It does slightly slow down your computer (barely noticable), but it actually strengthens your internet speed. Also, you can barely get a virus from limewire unless you are very .... very ... for lack of a better word: dumb. just make sure you download files with not exceptionally small sizes and you'll be fine. for example, you gotta make sure that you don't download a music file with a 15 kb size because that is obviously a virus.

Hope this helps!

we've had limewire for like a year and we haven't had any problems with our computer being slow or with viruses!!

but i think it would depend on how amy songs u have on ur computer if u have hundreds of songs on ur computer it's gonna slow down no matter where u get the songs...ur best bet is to download one CD at a time and burn it then delete the songs before downloading more

sure it somewhat is going to sluggish it down yet in addition my son's laptop crashed a whilst in the past and individual who fastened it mentioned that it became probably a corrupt song that got here by Limewire that crashed it. those are shared songs so i think of you're taking a huge gamble with it. We used it for an exceedingly long term in the previous it crashed so the percentages won't be that massive???? do not comprehend for specific.

If you're not using it then it won't.
Anytime you a program that takes up that much memory usage, it's going to slow down your computer.
Sometimes I have 3 IE windows open, AIM, MSN and yahoo messenger all going with 4+ IM windows each, and it's such a noticeable different in computer speed.

You do realize you're stealing music, don't you?
If it's like rap, go ahead haha
But little bands need to eat, ya know! haha
