What zone do you live in? The nice thing about thyme, is that it comes back every year for me in Zone 5. It is beautiful when it is flowering. You could try broadcasting some seed now, and if it doesn't come up by mid-spring, throw some more seeds out. You can plant the seeds any time, but spring is the best.

when its thyme er. I mean time
depends where you live- you can start in the house anytime but dont move it outside until the last frost has gone. sometimes, I have taken a chance and had frost come after outside plants were in place. this is a hassle but many times you can save the plants by covering with plastic so they dont get frosted- this doesn't always work.

Right now. all you need is a good indoor HID grow light. if you want fresh all the time even in the winter even a small light would wook well. other wise as said above start seeds about a month b4 the last avrage frost date for your area. hope this hellps anjoy the growing season.

You should be able to find thyme "Christmas" trees at Home Depot, Lowe's or your local nursey right now.
