1) Call the manufacturer (if possible) as many now have a disposal/recycling program in place;
2) Check with your local computer store and ask them what they do with their old monitors; or
3) Call your local recycling depot and ask them.
I'm sure you won't dump it in the household garbage or beside the road.

You can dispose of your old monitor by bringing it into the store of the company you purchased it from. I know Apple does this in order to recycle the old parts, but I would suggest calling ahead and making sure that the business you purchased the monitor from offers a free recycling program. Hope this helps!

Monitors should not go to a regular dump. Some dumps have special areas that will take them. San Diego has a company that will pick them (and TVs and other universal waste) up and dispose of them. There may be a small fee (like $10).

The best thing is to donate it to a charity, but good luck. Monitors are a dime a dozen and even most charities don't want them. Try the public schools or workshops. Some cities have organizations that re-use them for low income folks like Portland, Oregon (Free Geek.)

1. Donate it to the prison system.
2. Pay the trash company to take it but get a receipt! Chances are the will just throw it in a landfill illegally. Then, when someone diggs it up 10 years from now, traces it to you, you could show them a reciept.
3. Uncle Larry's woods (just kidding! There is toxic lead in those things.)
