What's living in Chicago like?

Chicago is a cool city. It is very midwestern, so the people are really helpful, open, and friendly, not like in NY or LA. It has a small-town feel, even though it is huge and there are loads of things to do. If you like sports, it is a great city to live in because we have 2 baseball teams, 2 hockey teams, an NBA team and an NFL team, plus great college sports. The museums and zoos are top-quality, and when I lived there I visited Brookfield Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, and the Field Museum at least once a year. There is also a great theater district and varied cultural offerings- you can see everything from the symphony to broadway shows, and every year there are several awesome festivals downtown, like Taste of Chicago and the Chicago Blues Fest. All in all, it is a great place to live.
There are a couple of downsides to Chicago, mostly involving the weather. It is really extreme- very hot and muggy in summer, and freezing in winter. The traffic is absolutely horrible, too, and the public transportation isn't that great. Crime is also a real problem, but that's normal for any big American city.

I lived there for 16 years and plan on moving back in the near future. If you can put up with the bad driving and occasional bouts of extreme heat and/or cold it a great place to be!

awesome! it is so fun! you can go to a baseball or football game whenever, you can go swimming at lake michigan, so many places to eat and shop, fun at navy pier, great place to have a picnic, fun to be at new year's eve, lots of parks to explore and there is so much more!
if you go there, you will have a great time!

fun =] when you go to the city. always something going on. its crowded a lot of the time. and it can be expensive. and if you just walk all day- extremely tiring.

Probably not too different from what it was in the 1920's except now ... they do it modern.
