Why not go for a blog? Many popular and successful websites, like Gawker and Defamer for example, are blogs. You could try Blogger, Live Journal, or many of the other free options out there. Do a search for 'free blog' and I'm sure you'll find many options.

you are on the site now you get a free trial through yahoo and then just pay from there not everything is free you will find that out in time on the net

There's freewebs, tripod, geocities.
Those are good ones, but each has its prices.
Freewebs Free Version=Limited Pages
Tripod Free Version=Better Features Paid Version
But still, those are good free website creators!!

I have been very happy with www.virtualave.net. They have free "hosting" if you allow pop-up ads. However, if you want a domain name (like www.myname.com) you will have to pay about $15 per year for that. The only way to get it completely free is to go to something like myspace.com.

you can go to many sites like http://www.freewebs.com, but they will be like http://www.freewebs.com/thenameofyoursitehere
if you want one with a domain name try http://www.tk it has not worked correctly for me, but it has for many others, otherwise you will have to pay for a registered domain, the best deal on this that i have found is http://www.attaxhosting.com
