I used to think so, but in my freshly single life I am beginning to have doubts. What do you think, and why?

I believe that it is totally possible for your lover to be your best friend. My husband is my best friend I wouldn't have it any other way. We were friends first before we became romantically involved. I don't think our marriage would be as strong as it is if we had not been best friends first. Being friends gave us a basis to build a relationship on. Not only do we love each other as man and wife but we are best friends who have lots and lots in common.
Happy New Year

That's what a lover is supposed to be, really. Your very best friend. You have to hold that relationship above all others. I believe it is very possible, because I've seen enough successful marriages and relationships to know that it's true. BUT . . . there are many people who fail at it. Just look at the divorce rate. As long as you're careful, you should be able to find a man (or a woman, if you're a man) who will satisfy those criteria. Good night!

I think your lover turns into your best friend the longer you are with him. When you are fresh into the relationship you need to still have nights out with friends. As you get into the relationship longer things happen like you move to a different town, or you grow up one way and your friends grow a different way. So naturally you begin to rely on your lover more, making that person the one you turn to for everything therefore that person becomes your bf.

if it's a serious relationship that works than it's wonderful. If you start out as friend turn to lovers and thann loose the friend tha it's not! But if you are in a relationship and you're lovers and friends than that's great. at least I think so! Good luck and happy new year!

well think about this, when you are sad who do you call? your best friend
when you are excited about that big promotion who do you call? you best friend
when you are board who do you call? you best friend
so if you best friend is your lover you have things in common, and share everything together.

Now ppl do grow apart and fall out of love, and you could loose your best friend. But there is always room to make other best friends

I think a person is in trouble if this ISN'T the case. That's not to imply that they are your ONLY best friend. If you can't be friends and develop a trust and bond between you that NOTHING can break or come between, there WILL BE "trouble in paradise."

If your significant other is your best friend, than yes! After all, you spend a whole life together so what better way to live then with your best friend?

it could be possible but you may end up losing some of your other close friends in the future and that relationship might not last at all because you already know that person to well and it could cause major problems...

It is...but when you break up with the lover, you lose your best friend. And that sucks!!!

It has taken me and my past lover/best friend two years to get to the point were we can be friends without any of the jealousy b.s.!!!
Its a lot of work...but it was worth it, he truly is my best friend.
