is a bigger mess than Iraq? Obesity is the major cause of almost every major disease that kill Americans including heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, & many cancers and the US healthcare system cannot handle so many fat/diseased Americans. How about this, anyone 15 or more lbs over their normal weight doesn't get any public/govt. healthcare? Gym Stocks would skyrocket & US healthcare would no longer be a major problem.

Okay. How about this. Every American who is overweight gets their stomach stappled? No worry about anorexia/bulimia, famous people love it, and no one would have to exercise. Gosh I am brillant!

How about the government get out of the health care business? Let the private sector determine rates and people will either change their behavior or pay more.

I do agree that the healthcare system in the USA is a horrible mess, not bigger than Iraq, but equally bad.
Obesity is a huge problem that is growing, there are other factors to consider as well. Drug companies keep everyone on edge about illness, buy a pill for this, take a drug for that, you can't eat this, or don't eat that, everyone runs to the doctor for every little thing, right down to a small paper cut. Not happy with your looks? Nip this, tuck that. The list is nearly endless.
I don't get sick enough that I can't take care of myself, and I very rarely go to the doc. Why expose myself to excess germs?
Your idea does make some sense, but you know very well people will yell that they are being discriminated against because of their rotund bodies. We need to get our schools back to the basics. Physical education at many schools has been cut back or eliminated altogether, because of the cost of those programs. In the end it is costing us more. Teaching children the importance of an active life reaps the benefits of a better chance for them to choose a healthy lifestyle as adults.

while I agree... it is a major problem... but I don't think it's the only problem

it seems that the costs of every service has increased DRAMATICALLY over the past 15 years... like 500 percent...

along with the salaries of almost everyone in the field...

everyone I know that works in healthcare... I know a few, from top to bottom... are basically the richest people I know on average... I don't think that's a coincidence...

it seems that you can't put a price on people's health... so it keeps going up...

I regarded it up the different day because of the fact human beings shop asserting 'all and sundry comes here for their healthcare so it would desire to be the perfect'. certainly extra suitable than 10 circumstances as a lot of human beings bypass away the U. S. for their healthcare because of the fact the style of persons who are available in. the U. S. is a important objective audience for international places offering 'wellness tourism' because of the fact maximum of persons locate it unaffordable.

Actually, I think the problem with our healthcare system is that it is profit-based, rather than based on, you know, getting people better. Health care was cheaper back when everyone smoked, and smoking isn't exactly healthful.

I don't think the obesity epidemic in this country has much to do with laziness, as you seem to be claiming. Most fat people aren't fat because they're slobs; they're fat for a whole variety of other reasons, most of them having to do with stress and depression. Obviously, our culture isn't giving people what they need, and the people are turning to food for comfort. I don't think it's coincidence that obesity is becoming more of a problem as rates of depression rise and the numbers of people who say they have a close confidante fall.

The FDA needs to get out of the business of allowing chemicals to be used in foods. Did you know that there are 23 different appetite stimulating chemicals in Oreo cookies? Don't think that they are the only ones using this tactic!

They want everyone fat.. it's all part of their plan you see.
Tha's why there is MSG & ASPARTAME in almost everything you eat!
When people get unhealthy they have to get aid from the prescription corporation giant.
There fore when you get sick you have to buy drugs or what ever will help heal your pain/pains.

Hello =)

Now there's a nice, compassionate attitude for you...

You've just damned yourself to a Buddhist hell, you know that, don't you??

The root cause of all the problems in American society is our general lack of compassion. And you just won the prize for the most vivid demonstration of that for this day.

I love you, and I wish you nothing but happiness, my friend. I shall use expedient means to try and help release you from your Karmic retribution, but, I suspect it will do you no good.

Namaste, and Happy New Year,

--Tom
