artists are weird or crazy? A relative told me that all artists were kind of nuts. Do you believe thats true?

Not nuts but maybe a little crazy. They don't adhere to what people call normal. They have a passion that most people are scared of, and that makes people think they are crazy.

Crazy? No. I do believe artists, whether musical, visual, or performing, are wired differently than the rest of us and that is why they are able to see the world differently. Yes, artistic techniques can be taught, but true artistic creativity is not something that can be learned. If everyone could be taught to write music or play as well as Mozart, then his music would be meaningless. Now, I believe that being artistic doesn't make you crazy. That being said, however, I do believe that artistic people can be driven crazy by their own interpretations of things.

What kind of artist are you talking about? Music or as in a real artist?
Artists tend to run in my family. Both kinds. Yes we are weird and kinda nuts in a way I guess. lol. But most families are so it's nothing big.

Lol alot of people say, and no i dont believe that being an artist and being crazy have any connection to eachother at all. Most artists (usually painters) are misunderstood though. Take Van Gogh for example, he only got to sell one painting during his whole life, and that was to his brother, cuz he was worried about Van Gogh, and he wanted to help him out...and now, his paintings are considered exquisite works of art...so in my opinion, i really think that what is accepted and what is considered "nuts" really depends on the generation and open-mindedness of society...but like i said, this is just my opinion....

A friend told me that too - she said it has something to do with the side/part of the brain that is highly developed.
I for one do not think it's weirdness or craziness - just a little different, maybe because they prefer to deviate from the conventional. I think it's kinda cool.

ive heard that there is a fine line between creativity and insanity.
i think artists are cool but there are many who are nuts and alot of creative people that i know are a bit out there but i love them for that. theyre so interesting and fun!

my mum was an artist she wasnt weird. there unique but i guess some artists can get crazy coz of the turps. lol.

i think artists have that rep because they are creative and think outside the box. "normal people" whoever they may be think they are nuts
