today i went running outside, like i always do. but my left ankle was hurting me, not enough to stop but enough to feel pain. I always run on cement, so I tried running on the grass but it only hurt more. Also, one of my right toes was hurting, like a pull. do you think it's my shoes or am i injured? should i stop running for awhile??

If it is your shoes, then the shoes have injured your foot for whatever reason. You are injured; pain = injury. Best to lay off it; use moist heat and elevate it when applying the heat. Take ibuprofen to ward off inflammation.

Any number of things could have happened.

There is no injury that will jump from one side of your body to the other, so the Left ankle, right toe relationship isn't due to the same injury.

That being said, it could be that your body naturally adjusted how you were running to protect your ankle, and that caused you to put pressure on your right foot in a different way, hence the injury there.

Since they are both foot injuries, it could very well be your shoes. Are they new? Are they actually running shoes? As silly as it sounds some sneakers (ie. basketball shoes, tennis shoes, etc.) do not provide great support for distance running.

Treat it as you would any other sport injury; ice and if you must heat, use moist heat. Take an ibuprophin to stop inflamation and swelling. If the pain persists I recommend seeing a doctor or sports medicine specialist.

I would stop running until the pain eases.

your left ankle and your rihgt toes?
I think there's a chance that you are injured, feeling pains in both of your legs aren't normal. I don't think it's because of your shoes, also is it the pair that you usuallly wear, or is it a new one that you aren't use to? If it's a new one, than there's still a chance that it's the shoes.
I'm not a doctor or anything but I am an athlete, so I think you should stop running for a while or it's safe to check it out.
Anyways, better safe than sorry.
Hope you'll feel better.

Maybe you should talk to your doctor and get your foot/toe examined and lay off the running for a few days

Check it out with your doctor. I'd try not to strain anything for a while.
