Try calling the unemployment offices in your area---there are organizations out there that help you create a resume and can show you how to find job listings in your area.
If you hadn't have quit at a restaurant I would have told you to hang in there a little longer---I've never worked at a place like that either.
I don't think that it's a bad place to work but sometimes customers can act like real donkeys and I would probably get fired before I could make two days.
Good luck.
!!!!Of course you won't get a great job at first----when you do start working always keep trying to move up to something better---work really hard and show initative and ask your self if you were paying out money would you hire someone like you.

Are you a High School Graduate?

If so, the railroads are hiring starting at $18 per hour. They will train you to become a railroad engineer or conductor.

All the major railroads are hiring because the Baby-Boomers are retiring and demand for freight has surged.

Try a government job. In other words working FOR the city you live in...they usually have lots of positions that only require a highschool diploma and little experience. The also pay very well and have benefits...where as most commercial places don't. So try that I'm sure you'll do great with that.

You are young. Take great advantage of it by staying out of the service sector.

Construction is where I got my start. Drive around with resumes and look for crews working. Have steel-toed workboots in your vehicle. Ask to speak with the person "who can put you to work."

1. Don't be intimidated. Everyone started a job somewhere.

2. Don't get discouraged. Some crews can be "tough" (at first) to work in.

3. Be prepared to work.

Good luck!

The best place to work is sign up for a temp agency. They are good, and if you hate the job sometimes they will let you get a different one. Walmart SUCKS, I worked there, they abuse their employees, pay nothing and just bite to work for. Target is better. Or, be a rentacop, easiest job I EVER had. Just don't fall asleep. I worked at Wendys, sucked. Temp job or security guard. EZ work.

Also, College is NOT a magic pill to get a better job. I have a BS in Psych and that did NOT help me get a better job (or even a better position) in ANY company. You usually just get in debt and have to get a crummy job to pay back student loans anyway. If anything, learn a trade like HVAC or XRAY tech, or plumber or stone mason, or iron worker, THEY get paid more than most college grads do.

since everybody should not go to college, i suggest you get into the trades. if you are pretty good ad math (trig, algebra etc.) you might try to become a journey electriction. actually, to make the most money get into a study and apprenticeship program in plumbing. my plumber gets $100 an hour. He handles house calls and sometimes takes on the bigger plumbing jobs on new housing. he does very well. lot of other possibilities. for quick money and short training, go to 18-wheel truck driver school. heavy equipment operators make good money. bulldozer, front end loaders etc. otherwise, join the navy or whatever. they provide a lot of training and afterward you get va benefits.

Figure out what you enjoy doing, then find something that relates somehow to that.
I always wanted to travel so one of my first jobs was as a airline ticket agent. I also play the piano so I taught piano lessons.

If you like video games try a game store or bait & tackle shop if you like to fish.

Finding something you will like will make a big difference in how much you enjoy working. Good Luck :)!

It's kind of food, but not a restaurant, but Starbucks has great benefits, even if you're part-time.

While you are young you should get the hardest, nastiest most thankless job you can find. That way when you get older and your job has to put food on the table and diapers on the baby no job will be beneath you.
