Everyone has different levels of expertise, skills and there will always be some people who have always lived in environments where they never tried or were able or educated enough to pull themselves up by the bootstraps. So being poor for some becomes the norm because they don't know anything different than being poor.
The one answer states something about the poor in other countries made our poor look rich. (not verbatim). The question was only directed to this country's poor.
So far no discussion has been mentioned about the middle class. Are they in a higher standard of living than they were in the 90's.?

Who decides how things are supposed to be? Yes the poor would be richer if they would get off their duffs and get an education and a job. Of course some people, for mental or physical reasons cannot get ahead, they should be taken care of. But a certain number of people are simply genetically poor. If you gave them $100,000 cash, tax free, they would be broke again in a year or sooner. For things to work as they are supposed to, a certain amount of effort by everyone is required.

Honey,if things were going the way they should,no one would care about being rich & we would all be honoring our good Father in Heaven!
We would be happy & no crime would be stalking our streets, because there wouldn't be any degenerates left!
