The F.D.A. says cloned meat is no different from natural meat and that it will not be labeled when it goes on sale in groceries. Do you want to know whether you are buying cloned meat?

I was thinking of asking this myself, actually, but decided not to contribute to irrational fears. :)

The way I see it, there's probably a lot more variation between, for example, one breed of cattle and the next than there is between a clone and its original. Heck, there's more between individual animals within a breed, not to mention between, say, cattle and fish. So, if eating one cow is no less safe than eating another, eating a cow clone should be no less safe either.

Also, if there ever was a harmful variation it would kill the animal before it grew enough to be ready to slaughter, so in a way every serving automatically goes through years of extensive animal testing.

I thinnk that they should clone one good cow with a healthy immune system and free of diseases then only use the DNA of the good cow to feed us it is much healthier than having to eat sickly cows and no they should not be labeled... why does everyone think that eating cloned meat is bad.. i dont think it is.

It doesn't matter to me. The cloned meat is just an exact replica of the regular meat. I don't think there would be anything wrong with it.

Yes, I think it should be labeled. I wonder if we will hear a health report, in 10 years, that cloned meat is not safe, as seems to often happen.

It truly is of no matter. I do not wish to know the methods of artificial insemination either. Its the processing of the meat, the methods of preparation, and the hormones/chemicals fed to the calf during its life that should be disclosed to the customer.

It should be. But most veggies are genetically engineered and they do not say so on the packaging. Only food that is organic is now labeled.

Fruits and veggies have been cloned for hundreds of years.
