There is no sugar, no fruit nothing in my house to be bringing on these fruit flies. The only thing I can think of is that they are coming from my kitchen sink. I have dumped drano in there, they were gone for a couple of days and now they have come back.

Is it possible they are coming from the drain? and if so, how do I clear the drain so they go away permanently?

What you have are called Drain flies this is how to get rid of them.

Drain flies, which develop on the gelatin-like coating that forms in drains and pipes, are best eliminated by removing the gelatinous slime on the inside of the pipes. Because drain cleaners may give variable results, manual cleaning may be required. Pouring boiling water down the drain to loosen the gelatinous slime may be useful. In addition, leaks in pipes that allow seepage and breeding sources should be fixed.

does your sink have a "p trap"? if not, that's where your problem comes from. p trap is a water seal that prevents insects and odors from the main sewer line entering your house. if you don't have one, install one. if you already have one, pour bleach or hot water to kill the insects. you may want to check your dishwasher and garbage disposal, they may be the source of this too.

since they are so small, that's unlikely. not to mention the trap. look instead at the over-all design of your place.
