There is a creator behind this enchanting cosmos. He is Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent. He is worshipped as God using many names and in many forms by various people. Unity, brotherhood and devotion are essential for every human being. To promote these sacred qualities in mankind, some great souls sought to establish different religions. Religion is not a restrictive concept. Religion is intended to develop the human personality and indicate the basic guidelines for right living. Religion brings out the humanness in man and enables him to live in harmony with his fellowmen. It provides the link between the individual and the Divine. It demonstrates the unity that underlies the diversity in creation. - BABA

I think that religion was created as a tool by and for humans to help us better explain (if not entirely understand) the nature of our existence and the world around us. A successful organized religion, however, has the organization to support (mortgage, clergy salaries, electricity, building repairs etc. - not to mention community outreach programs it tries to keep in place for folks who need them) and so the objective of those religions must also include earning enough to maintain the structure. Once you get to that point, it is easy to see that a large group of like minded people could wield quite a bit of power in a free democracy - and so for some religions the objective is simply the power to flourish and shape the world into their image or that of their god or holy text.

Peace!

I believe that religions are supposed to bring inner peace. In a world filled with turmoil, we as people try to find an outside source for peace. Religion teaches us to find the "light" inside of us. Fanatics of religions make this objective difficult. That's where religions (whatever kind) get a bad name. It's all about positivity. If you can find a little of it here, a bit of it there, it's all good. It's about improving yourself even 1% a day to be able to improve someone else's life with peace. So religions are avenues for us to take in our path in life as we all walk to the top of our mountain.

"God" is actually just the Quantum Universal Personality. Our consciousness is not evolved enough to see "him" for what "he" truly is, so we use images we can understand to explain what we can't.

This is why, for example, the Bible writers refer to Jesus as "The King of Kings". They imagined God with royal robes and a crown and a court of angels. These were all images from the times in which they lived.

So yes, God is real, but religion is just man trying to grasp who "he" is metaphorically. In this way, no religion which has a Supreme Being is really more right than another as they are all equally wrong but with all equally good intentions.

Religion doesn't represent truth, but it does represent the "tug" of "God" on our hearts and minds. Eventually, once we are further evolved, God's true nature will become as obvious to everyone as the formula for water (H20) is today. Religion will no longer require faith, as it will be a fact.

The objective or religions has always been to control people. But on the upside, they can provide people with meaning and comfort during bewildering times.

I believe that most people need religion because it helps them to deal with life and give them a reason to live and a set of guidelines to live by. Religion gives your life a purpose. Even though a person may not belong to any one religion, they stilll have a set of beleifs that makes life easier for them to deal with.

what does it really matter? if ppl choose to believe in a certain religion its their right and their own business. too many argue whether you should or shouldn't believe and what or who you should believe in....its no one's business except your own. and personally as long as your beliefs don't hurt anyone or encourage violence or anything negative i don't care who you believe in....but in saying that you also have to understand that all religions good messages have been and are being perverted by extremists who want to use them to further their agendas....the reality, truth and positive message of the major religions are still needed in this sad, tired and cynical world.

unfortunately, the major agenda of all popular (patriarchal) religions, especially in the West, and middle east, is to control its adherents in every possible way, via any and all means, and to access their "wealth" as successfully as possible. additionally, they have appropriate advisors to help in maximizing their investment income, again through all means, moral or otherwise. the "leaders" of all of these religions are no less psychopathic than(any other of) the (other) fascisto- corporatist "elites".
