Is it me or does it seem that people have gotten very ignorant to the needs of others? Get this "a Toronto church's plan to shelter a dozen homeless people once a week during the cold winter months has been met by threats of an injunction from some area residents" (cbc.ca). Therefore, because the residences have nice warm beds to sleep in then who cares about those who do not. Does anyone else find it disconcerting that we view the homeless as lower then ourselves? Now here is my question well the last of a few Can some one please explain to me as to why these people feel the need to let people freeze outside when the church has more then graciously accepted them inside THEIR church which is NOT owned by the residence?

I'm not saying I am all that good of a person, but hell even I would have no problems with homeless staying at a church willing to take them in...If not there then where can these poor people stay in the homes of those causing the legal problems I think not they would not allow it so they should just keep their mouths shut

It is not uncommon for people to oppose the sheltering of the homeless in particular areas because of the social problems that such people may bring with them to the neighbourhood; however, I am astonished that people would be willing to let people freeze outside in a Canadian winter instead of allowing them to stay (on someone else's property) once a week.

It's funny, Canadians (of which I am one) like to see their society as compassionate and moral, but then they do something like this. It makes me ashamed of my fellow countrymen.

Very hard to believe. The same people would be critisizing the church if they ignored them. Reminds you of a western where a man crawls across the desert and with his last stength reaches for water only to have it kicked out of his hand. Amazing.
