This is a tough question. Dying people may need a lot of love and support, or may withdraw entirely and reject people. It also depends upon obligations - is this person a family member? If the person is a close friend, bi-weekly visits should be sufficient, and calling every other day wouldn't be out of place. Offer to help with chores - laundry can be a real hassle for a sick person. Shopping for food is another good way to help. You'll think of others.

Make the last few months the best he's ever had...be there for him all the time...do the things that he's never ever going to do, like watching movies...let him enjoy all of life's littlest things before he moves on...he'll be a very happy soul....

If possible...try to alter his future and make sure that he lives a longer and happy life...

If there's nothing anyone can do about it, and he starts to suffer towards the end of his life, and he has to go under life support..don't allow them to put him under life support...it'll be very painful for you to see him struggling to live everyday...he won't be suffering if he was...y'know...

I've experienced this many times..so I know how it feels when someone is going to die and no one can do anything to stop it...

Be there friend. A shoulder to cry on, someone to laugh with and make them smile if you can. Be there to listen and let them know people love them.

Take care of yourself as well. Get lots of rest and eat right and make the best out of the time that you have to be with that person.

Make their life as normal as possible so they have other things on their mind then there reaility talking from personal experience. Let them talk if they need to don't push them away.
Keep things light, happy and fun so when the serious times come they will have something to remember while their are tubes coming out of them.

The best thing you can do for that person is to be there for them. Encourage them and assure them that you love them and that you care about them. Listen to what they say and let them talk about whatever it is they wish to express. Don't turn away when they talk about dying but empathize with them. Comfort them when you can. Make them laugh as much as possible and take them to places you think they would enjoy or places maybe they wish to go. Tell them you will do whatever they wish after they are gone and you will support them in whatever they way or want to do for whatever reason. This is what I did for my dad and I kept my word. Keep yours too.

Make them laugh, make them cry, make them cherish life every last second of it. Tell them to tell whatever they would like to, to their kids, wife, husband whomever they have left what they feel. Let them talk do not make then shush they need to talk in order to get their emotions out now so they don't regret never speaking their mind. Talk with them, They most likely are looking foward to death so they don't have to suffer as much as they are now! Good luck!
